  • Privacy Policies
The Student Federal Credit Union values the privacy of its members. We will never sell or otherwise disclose your nonpublic personal information (such as your account number or your Social Security number) to anyone except affiliated third parties, such as our financial service providers. But security is a group effort, and to that end, we have documented the security practices we have implemented and that we ask you, as one of our members, to adhere to as well.

We will never send nonpublic personal information through insecure channels such as e-mail. We ask that you co-operate with this policy and never disclose such information to us via insecure channels, either. Secure channels include regular ("snail") mail, phone calls to our offices that you have initiated, and the secure forms on our website.

It is important that you verify the identity of any party before you disclose sensitive information to them. This means, for instance, ensuring the name in the address bar of your browser indeed belongs to one of our servers (it should be of the form https://sfcu.upenn.edu/... for our website or of the form https://eteller.sfcu.upenn.edu/... for our Online Banking service). Ensure that your communication is encrypted: in Firefox or Internet Explorer, you should see a padlock icon in the lower right-hand corner of your browser. Firefox will, additionally, change the color of the address bar to yellow to indicate a secure connection. This web page, for instance, is not secured, but our Customer Service Request Form is secured.

If you have questions or concerns about our privacy policies, don't hesitate to contact us, either by visiting our offices, calling us at (215) 898-9697 or on the web at security@sfcu.upenn.edu.

    NCUA Regulations Regarding Privacy
The information here details our compliance with NCUA federal credit union privacy requirements, as prescribed in Part 716 of the NCUA Rules and Regulations, available from the NCUA's website.

We (the Student Federal Credit Union at the University of Pennsylvania) collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following sources:

    • Information we receive from you on applications or other forms
    • Information about your transactions with us
    • Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency, such as a credit reporting agency

We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information (such as your account number, your Social Security number, or your financial transactions) that we collect, per above, to anyone, except in the following cases as permitted by law:

    • To parties who provide financial services to our members, such as mortgage providers, our check clearing house, and our statement printers.
    • As necessary to effect, administer, or enforce a transaction that a member requests or authorizes, or as necessary to complete or collect what is owed on such a transaction. This may include providing information to a consumer collection agency.
    • For specific other purposes such as to protect against fraud, we may disclose information to our legal counsel, accountants and auditors.

Because we do not disclose any nonpublic personal information outside of the exceptions permitted by law, we do not provide notice of the right to opt-out of this disclosure. However, were we to ever disclose information outside of these exceptions, such notice of the right to opt out would be provided.

We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to only our employees and affiliated third parties (as described above) who require such information to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information.
